Bycatch is the industry term for everything that gets destroyed as collateral damage while commercial trawlers fish for one species. Every year, 250,000 turtles and 720,000 seabirds die in nets meant for something else. The crabs don't get counted.

This one survived the net. And it brought something back with it. A creature already vulnerable without its shell, now armed with the most personal of close-quarters weapons. Pull the pin, release the lever, gone in seconds. The hermit crab that couldn't find a shell found something better.
